Outdoor Lighting
After dark, a dark driveway or dim walkway is more than an inconvenience. It is a trip hazard and an easy invitation for someone who does not belong there. The right outdoor lighting fixes both: safer steps, clearer sight lines, and a yard that looks finished instead of forgotten.
At Interstate Electrical Contractors, we handle outdoor lighting installation and repair in Glendora, CA, for homes and businesses. Landscape lighting, security floods, motion-sensor fixtures, and porch or patio upgrades — wired clean, weather-rated, and finished to code. Frank Chiavarini has done this work since 1981. He is a California C-10 licensed electrical contractor, #415324, verifiable with the California Contractors State License Board (CSLB) at cslb.ca.gov.

What's Included in Our Outdoor Lighting Service
From a single porch light to a full landscape layout.
Landscape & path lighting
Path lights, spotlights, and low-voltage landscape runs make gardens, trees, and walkways usable after sunset. We plan fixture spacing, bury or protect cable where needed, and match the brightness to how you actually use the yard — not a runway of glare.
Security & motion-sensor lighting
Floods and motion-sensor fixtures cover driveways, side yards, and back corners where shadows hide. We wire them to the right circuit, aim them so neighbors are not blinded, and test the sensor range before we leave.
Porch, patio, and entry lighting
A solid entry light or patio string of fixtures changes how a home feels at night. We replace worn porch fixtures, add wall packs or sconces, and make sure boxes and damp-rated gear match outdoor conditions.
Repair and fixture upgrades
Flickering landscape lights, dead floods, or corroded sockets are common calls. We troubleshoot outdoor circuits, replace failed fixtures, and upgrade to LED where it makes sense for longer life and lower power use. For indoor rooms, see our indoor lighting page.

Dark walkways or a hard-to-see driveway
If guests need a phone flashlight to reach the door, path and entry lighting are overdue.

You want better security coverage
Motion floods on the garage, side gate, or rear yard make unexpected movement harder to miss.

Existing lights flicker, fail, or look dated
Corrosion, bad photocells, and old sockets are fixable — often in a single visit.

You are remodeling the yard or adding a patio
New hardscape is the right time to run outdoor circuits clean instead of bolting on afterthought fixtures.
How It Works
Our Outdoor Lighting Process
Four clear steps from plan to night-time walkthrough.
Site walk and layout
We look at paths, entries, trees, and dark corners, then agree on fixture types and placement.
Circuit and wiring plan
We check panel capacity, outdoor-rated cable routes, and switch or photocell control before cutting or digging.
Installation
We mount fixtures, run cable, make weatherproof connections, and set sensors or timers.
Night check
We test every light after dark when needed, adjust aim, and confirm the yard looks and works the way you wanted.
Why Us
Why Choose Us for Outdoor Lighting
Licensed work, clear communication, and the job done right the first time — here's what that looks like with us.
Outdoor-rated work, not indoor gear outside
Moisture, heat, and sprinklers destroy the wrong fixtures fast. We use damp- or wet-rated equipment and outdoor wiring methods so the job lasts.
Security and curb appeal in one plan
You do not have to choose between a pretty yard and a safe one. We balance accent lighting with practical coverage where people walk and park.
Same licensed electrician from start to finish
Frank handles the layout and the wiring himself. No rotating crew guessing where the last person left off. If a circuit needs repair first, we can handle related electrical repairs on the same visit when practical.

Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers about pricing, what to expect, and how we handle the job.
Do you install motion-sensor lights?
Yes. Motion-sensor floods and security fixtures are a common outdoor lighting request. We wire them correctly, set the detection range, and aim them so they cover the area you care about without constant false triggers.
Do you install solar-powered outdoor lights?
Yes, when solar-powered fixtures fit the location — enough sun, the right mount, and realistic brightness for the spot. These are stand-alone outdoor lights, not a rooftop solar panel system. If you need electrical work for solar panels, ask us about that separately.
Is outdoor lighting safe in all weather?
Properly installed outdoor lighting uses weather-rated fixtures, outdoor-rated cable or conduit, and sealed connections. We install for local weather so rain and sprinklers do not turn a light into a hazard.
How much does outdoor lighting installation cost?
It depends on how many fixtures, low-voltage vs line-voltage, trench or surface routes, and whether new circuits are needed. A single porch swap costs less than a full landscape layout. We walk the property and give a free estimate before work starts.
